Sarah Adams Elementary School
Sarah Adams Elementary School had
464 students enrolled in grades
K 1 2 3 4 5 . There were
6,288 in
Lake Zurich CUSD 95 and
2,070,125 in all state public schools.
This school's Sun-Times rank is
325 among 2205 ranked elementary schools.
The rankings are based on the average reading and math scores.
How we ranked the schools.
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, all public schools must have
100 percent of tested students meet state standards in reading and math by
2014. In the interim, states must set gradually increasing targets. This
year in Illinois, a school is deemed to be making Adequate Yearly Progress
if it meeds the following conditions:
-
At least 95 percent tested in reading and mathematics for every student
group.
-
At least 70 percent of all tested students must meet or exceed state
standards on the reading and math tests.
-
A subgroup that falls below 70 percent can claim “safe harbor”
from failing adequate yearly progress if its percent of kids meeting or
exceeding state standards improves by 10 percent from the previous year.
-
High schools must have a graduation rate of at least 78 percent.
-
Elementary, junior high and middle schools must have an attendance rate of
at least 90 percent.

State goals for the Illinois Standards Achievement Tests
were established with the help of state elementary teachers.
Academic warning refers to the percentage of students whose
work on ISAT tests shows an inconsistent command of the basic knowledge and
skills.

District Finances
Numbers are for the entire district and are not available by individual
school.
Due to the way Illinois school districts are configured, state averages
for equalized assessed valuation per pupil and total school tax rate per
$100 are not provided.
EAV (Equalized assessed valuation) includes all computed
property values upon which a district's local tax rate is calculated.
Total school tax rate is a district’s total tax
rate as it appears on local property tax bills.
Instructional expenditure per pupil includes the direct costs of teaching
pupils or the interaction between teachers and pupils.
Operating expenditure per pupil includes the gross operating cost of a
school district excluding summer school, adult education, bond principal
retired, and capital expenditures.

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Guidelines
Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, all public schools must
have 100 percent of their tested students meet state standards in
(making Adequate Yearly Progress in) reading and math by 2014. In the
interim, states must set gradually increasing targets to ensure that
goal will be met. This year in Illinois, a school is deemed to be
making adequate yearly progress if it meets all of the following
conditions:
-
At least 95 percent tested in reading and mathematics for every
student group. If the current year participation rate is less than
95 percent, this condition may be met if the average of the current
and preceding year rates is at least 95 percent, or if the average
of the current and two preceding years is at least 95 percent. Only
actual participation rates are printed. If the participation rate
printed is less than 95 percent and yet this school makes AYP, it
means that the 95 percent condition was met by averaging.
-
At least 70.0 percent meeting/exceeding standards in reading and
mathematics for every group. For any group with less than 70.0
percent meeting/exceeding standards, a 95 percent confidence
interval was applied. Subgroups may meet this condition through
Safe Harbor provisions. ***
-
For schools not making AYP solely because the IEP group fails to have
70.0 percent meeting/exceeding standards, 14 percent may be added to
this variable in accordance with the federal 2 percent flexibility
provision.
-
At least 90 percent attendance rate for non-high schools and at least
78 percent graduation rate for high schools.
